Amo 7:14-15ESV Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, “I was no prophet, nor a prophet’s son, but I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs. 15 But the LORD took me from following the flock, and the LORD said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

Observation

The calling of God does not depend on family heritage, nationality or any other natural tendency but rather on God’s calling and plan for our lives.  Every one of us have a calling and purpose in life.  No matter what that purpose is, we are all called to be servants of the Lord Jesus Christ and of his Kingdom.  “who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began” (2Ti 1:9 ESV) At the very least we are called to be saints and ordained to be Christ’s ambassadors (see 2Cor 5:18-20).  We are called to represent Christ. Jeremiah was the son of a family of priest, but Amos was a shepherd and farmer. But God called both of them to be a prophet to his people.

Application

I have been called and chosen for the work of the Kingdom not based on my lineage and heritage but because of God’s plan, purpose and calling on my life.  I have responded and will continue to respond to his call and leading in my life.

コメント

アモスは預言者の家系でも、祭司の家系でもありませんでした。農家で、羊飼い、農園の管理などをしていました。その所から、主が選び出して、預言者として召してくださいました。エレミヤや祭司の家に生まれて預言者として召されました。家系でも、自然の特質でもなく、神の召しとご計画に応答することが大切です。「神は私たちを救い、また、聖なる招きをもって召してくださいましたが、それは私たちの働きによるのではなく、ご自身の計画と恵みとによるのです。この恵みは、キリスト・イエスにおいて、私たちに永遠の昔に与えられたものであって、それが今、私たちの救い主キリスト・イエスの現われによって明らかにされたのです」（2テモテ1:9-10新改訳） 。主はあなたのために素晴らしい計画があります。（エレミヤ29:11参照）。
